Day 6
I didn't sleep very well last night. Had to take a sleeping pill to finally doze off. My neck is still feeling quite tight (that's what I wanted, isn't it?) and uncomfortable. In addition, you have to sleep on your back, head slightly elevated for two weeks following surgery and I'm a total front and side sleeper, so that adds to the sleeping difficulties. I walked around the property a little today, up the stairs and down and felt the best I've felt so far. Of course, I know I'll get a tiny bit better each day that passes. I know I have to be patient and I understand that the healing process really does take a full six months, although I know I'll look wonderful long before that.
Tonight, Steven (my husband) will be arriving. He's going to hang with me at the Villa Plenitud for about a week and then we're going to a nice resort at the beach with the Lev family where I can continue my recovery in a lovely, peaceful setting.
Even though I discourage people from bringing spouses or friends or relatives with them when they come here for surgery, I know that Steven understands going in, that he will basically be on his own to relax and do his thing..without depending on me for anything. He'll have a car and he knows his way around San Jose, so he won't be bored just sitting around watching me heal.
I feel terrible when people bring their spouses or friends or relatives and their husband or sister starts getting bored to death and so the patient pushes herself to get up, and get dressed and go out prematurely to take care of their companion. It stops the healing process to push yourself prematurely. But people still do it. Well, I'm staying put, that's for sure. As a matter of fact, Steven has his own room across from mine, so he doesn't disturb me when I want to rest. I find that I fall asleep at all different hours of the day and sleep is really precious and important for healing.
It'll be great, however, to see him. He's the best most supportive husband in the world. I feel so blessed.
My Fu Manchu bruise is really settling in. I look awful. I hope I don't scare the Hell out of Steven. He's never seen me like this. Last time I had a facelift (ten years ago) he didn't see me until after two weeks when I came home from Costa Rica. I had no visible bruising on my face, only some residual light bruising on my neck which I covered either with a scarf or with a bit of concealer. I didn't bruise as badly last time at this time. I wonder if this bruising will last longer. I guess I'll find out, won't I?!

Day Six Breakfast in bed. Smoothie, scrambled eggs and fresh fruit...and....a beautiful view from my bed!

Feeling great right after my shower....ahhhhh!! Clean hair!! Yes

Side view

See the bruising on my upper lid_ That's just from sucking out a small fat pocket that developed in my eye corners! Amazing!!

I think I'll postpone entering the Ms. America pageant today!.

what could I possibly be smiling about???"

You should see the other guy!.
